| Design Phase, Repair Wastewater Lift
Station, Global Hawk, Building 1203 |
Project Description:
Haling & Associates, as part of a
design-build team, provided engineering design services for the
Repair Wastewater Lift Station, Global Hawk, Building 1203 at
Beale AFB, CA.
The project entailed the
construction of a new sewage pump station consisting of
rebuilding an existing 23 feet deep lift station with masonry
block wall, roof, hoist etc. The rebuilt station was sized at
12’x14’ with chopper pumps, 610 feet of force main, and 670 feet
of new gravity influent pipeline with 3 new manholes. There
were existing drainage and local utilizes that were accommodated
as well as the demolition of some existing structures. The work
was segregated into two distinct phases; design and
construction.
H&A performed engineering design
to produce constructible plans and specifications. The design
drawings included:
1.
1. Site
plan of the project area.
2. New sewer layouts
showing connection points, pump configuration, masonry block
building, pipe sizes, routing, and general equipment
specifications.
3. Design
drawings and specifications were provided at 35%, 65% and 95%
submittals. Design drawings were completed using ACAD 2000,
converted into PDF format and followed Beale AFB conventional
drawing standards. Specifications were compatible with
Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) standards.
At the 95 % version, H&A met with
the Base personnel to
conduct
a pre-final design review meeting. Based on comments received
therein, H&A revised the design and submitted the final (100%)
design to the Base. The goal was to provide quality service to
help expedite the design phase such that a Notice to Proceed (NTP)
for construction could be issued. The project has been
successfully constructed.
